God Bless the U.S.A.

Old Glory

So I couldn't help but be part of this historic election. Sarah Palin came to Henderson on October 21 and I just had to go. A friend and I lined up bright and early to see history in the making. We endured four plus hours standing in line, the heat of the Vegas sun, thirst, and security (think airport but worse!)and two more hours sitting. It was worth it regardless of your political affiliation. Lee Greenwood sang the national anthem, God Bless America, and of course Proud to be an American. It was chilling to see so many Americans gathered in public singing praise to America, pledging their allegiance, and praying. Yes praying- I didn't even know that was allowed anymore:) When Sarah came out it was absolute mayhem. You might have thought it was a rock concert. We were able to get up close to her when it was over and just missed getting her autograph. We should have been more aggressive but the secret service were a bit intimidating:) I am definitely glad that I am alive and old enough to know the meaning and to remember this historic occasion. One funny story, while waiting in line an Obama supporter walked by taunting everyone with her sign and a 90 something man said "don't you have anywhere else to be?" she said "it's a free country" to which my friend replied, "you're welcome". Everyone laughed:) So anyway maybe Dennis will blog later about Obama (HA! HA!) At least a thousand watched on the lawn The Stage Up Close Signing Autographs

KA

Well last night Dennis surprised me with an early birthday present. He took me to see the Cirque show KA. I have been wanting to see a Cirque De So lei show since we moved here so I was really excited. It was wonderful very entertaining and appealing to the senses. There was everything from fire to snow and melodrama to death defying acts. Unfortunately cameras weren't allowed so we don't have any pics to share. If you ever get the opportunity to see one of their shows definitely take it, you won't regret it!

Happy October

Happy October everyone! Most of you know that October is my favorite month. Mostly because it's my birthday month but also because I love the fall weather, Halloween, and all of the other wonderful things that come along this time of year. Also this year because it's one month closer to getting out of this hell hole:)Well I have been busily working the last 7 days and Dennis has been enjoying a short break before beginning his final rotation (yeah!). He spent the week relaxing after a tough week of tests. It worked out well that he was home this week because our spare bedroom and bath were flooded by our neighbors busted water pipes. What a mess-lucky for us it did not ruin anything unlucky for them though their place was a disaster. We got refurbished carpet and a free carpet cleaning out of the ordeal-just in time to move. Oh well it looks good for now... Apparently Dennis and Nairobi were bored while I was away but it looks like they kept themselves entertained.

Celebrity Siting

This pic was taken in July while Dennis was at the Hard Rock Casino at a Reggae concert. For those of you who don't know it's Shemar Moore formerly Malcolm on the Young & the Restless & Soul Train host. He now stars as Morgan on Criminal Minds and in movies. I was so jealous! About a week later Dennis & Kim ran into Cuba Gooding Jr in Los Angeles-no photo op though:)

September

Nairobi "Jailed"

Well it seems like 2008 is just flying by so fast. September is already half way over. As September flys by so do my twenties. I can't believe in less than a month I will be thirty. Where does time go?
Dennis is in the midst of a whirl wind month. He's in the last two weeks of his pediatric elective and doing a plastic surgery/dermatology class 2-3 times a week at night. He has a big test next week that is a pre-national board exam so he has been studying a lot. We only have about 60 days left before we the big move.
Also we would like to ask everyone to say a prayer for Dennis's mom who is recovering from a health scare.
