Kenya 2012 Redo
For those who had difficulty viewing these the first time. Here's a slide show picture bomb.
Kite Fest 2012
After 3 plus years of living in Austin we finally got the opportunity to take in the world's longest running Kite Festival. A few weeks ago we met up with our friends Tony and Dee downtown to enjoy a lovely afternoon.

Bridal Shower
At the end of February I helped host Latisha's bridal shower. We had a luncheon for the bride to be in Midland at The Cafe at Aldredge Gardens.

Kenya 2012
Shortly after leaving my grandma's we jetted off to Kenya to catch up with Dennis' family. Among the highlights of our trip were a tropical vacation in Mombasa, a Safari at the Masaii Mara, and trip to Giraffe Center (London's Favorite). We had a terrific time, enjoyed seeing everyone, and can't wait to go back. Enjoy our picture bomb...

The Year Without a Santa Clause...
Almost...
As most of you know my grandmother or Nanny as I called her fell ill just after Thanksgiving when she suffered a minor heart attack and bladder infection for which she was hospitalized. My mom went to be by her side and helped take care of her during her last few weeks. She took her final breath on December 22nd in her home, in her sleep and with my mom by her side. Just as she wished.
It shouldn't really come as a surprise because that's the kind of lady my grandma was. She was strong-willed, independent a real force to be reckoned. I was so fortunate to get to know her so well. While I have fond memories of her growing up it's really my memories I have of her as an adult that I will cherish the most. Our long phone conversations during the day when everyone else was at work. Our late night conversations in front of the tv when everyone else was asleep. I'm sure I'll never be able to watch the Young and Restless, the Price is Right, or Wheel of Fortune ever again without thinking of her. When we came back from Kenya I would find myself wanting to call her to tell her about the trip or to catch me up on my soaps.
She was the person who taught me to pray. She helped me to heal from my parents divorce. She was the strongest and bravest person I knew. Her body gave out but her mind and spirit never did. I loved her dearly, miss her terribly, but look forward to seeing her again someday.

Nanny and her favorite girl-June 2011
In many ways it was the best Christmas we've had in a long time. We were all together in our home away from home and we all knew Nanny was where she had longed to be.
