It's a Girl!

The newest edition to the family arrived Wednesday evening. Our first niece Ms. Laila Rita arrived July 15th. She is the second child of Dennis' brother Kim and first granddaughter. Smita's mom just made it in from South Africa a short time before Laila made her big debut. Mom and baby are home and doing well. Congratulations Kim, Smita, and big brother Luke. Happy Birthday Laila!

Name Edit:
Laila Mwendwa -The previous name was taken from an unreliable source, her uncle Dennis:) Mwendwa is her Meru name meaning loved one.

Patio Pics

Wow three posts in one night. Must be the insomnia. Here are some pictures Dennis took of our new patio.

BEFORE

Notice the Mosquito Swamp in the Middle

Uneven landscaping rock with crushed granite

The crushed granite would get tracked in the house and pool-what a mess!

AFTER

Nice smooth concrete

Bye Bye Mosquito Swamp

Some people don't like concrete but we think it looks a lot cleaner.

It's Gettin' Hot in Here!

So as our luck would have it being it is one of the hottest summers ever in Austin our A/C went out on Thursday. By the time Dennis got home from work that evening it was 95 degrees inside! To top it off Dennis lost the AC in his car as well. What a day. Nairobi didn't know what was going on. He is an inside only air conditioner kind of cat. He stared at the ice cubes in his water, explored all the open windows, and tried to stay cool. Here are some pics Dennis took when he came home.

Fourth of July 2009

Last week my Mom came down and spent the week with us. We had fun running around and enjoying the Fourth of July festivities. On Friday night my mom and I headed out to the ballpark and got the best seats ever for a spectacular fireworks display. Unfortunately I realized I forgot my camera after we got there. Dennis was working late so he didn't get to join us. On Saturday we tried to stay cool. It was the hottest Fourth of July ever recorded in Austin. It appears the Vegas heat has followed us to Texas. Once the sun let up a bit we headed out to the Oasis on Lake Travis. We enjoyed a couple drinks and the spectacular view of the lake and dinner. We sat overlooking the lake watching the fireworks while eating dinner. It was a beautiful night. We hope everyone had a wonderful Independence Day!
